Bishop’s Co-ed Undri Controversy: Parents Protest Fee Hike, School Initiates Legal Action
Pune, 18th April 2026: The Bishop’s Education Society has initiated civil and criminal proceedings against a group of parents and unidentified outsiders following an unauthorized and disruptive protest over school fees at The Bishop’s Co-ed. School in Undri on April 15, 2026. Parents protested claiming fees have been increased by over 45%.
According to a strongly-worded notice issued to parents on April 17 by Shayne McPherson, Honorary Secretary of The Bishop’s Education Society, the incident involved individuals who “trespassed and unlawfully assembled outside the counselling department and main office without prior intimation or authorization.”
The school management strongly condemned the “aggressive and unwarranted behaviour,” noting that the ruckus directly interfered with daily operations and caused significant distress among the student body. The administration specifically highlighted that vulnerable children attending sessions in the counselling department were left “deeply shaken by the hostility occurring right outside their doors.”
Further escalating the situation, the protesting group allegedly took unauthorized video recordings of the Principal and staff members. The official notice states that these videos were distributed to various news and media channels without consent, with the explicit intent to “harm and defame the reputation of the Staff, Principal and the Management.”
In response to this severe breach of protocol, the school conducted an internal investigation and successfully identified the individuals at fault. Asserting that the safety and privacy of students and personnel are “non-negotiable,” the management confirmed that legal avenues are actively being pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
To prevent future occurrences and maintain campus decorum, The Bishop’s Education Society has implemented strict new security protocols across all its schools, effective immediately:
Restricted Entry: No parent or visitor will be permitted inside the school building without a confirmed, prior-approved appointment. Security personnel have been directed to enforce this rule strictly and without exception.
Authorized Communication Channels: All concerns or grievances regarding the school must be addressed via the official school email ID. The administration noted that no third-party interventions will be entertained.
Zero Tolerance Policy: Any future instances of unauthorized assembly, shouting, protesting, threatening behaviour, or non-consensual recording on campus will result in immediate police action.
The notice concluded by thanking the vast majority of parents who continue to uphold the school’s shared ethics and principles, reiterating the institution’s commitment to maintaining a safe sanctuary focused entirely on the well-being and growth of its students.
