Pune, 21st April 2026: A racket involving forged police verification certificates has been uncovered in the city, with a complaint registered at the Chatushrungi Police Station. The fraud came to light after a young man lost his job when his verification document was found to be fake.

According to police, the accused allegedly provided forged police verification certificates to job seekers in exchange for money. These documents were used by candidates while applying for jobs where such verification is mandatory.

The case surfaced when an employer noticed discrepancies in a candidate’s verification record. Upon further scrutiny, the document was found to be forged, leading to the individual’s immediate termination.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the racket may have targeted multiple job aspirants by promising quick and hassle-free verification. The accused are suspected to have created documents that closely resembled official police certificates.

Police have launched a probe to identify those involved and to determine the number of fake certificates issued. Officials have urged citizens to follow official verification procedures and avoid engaging with unauthorised agents.

Further investigation is underway.
