PMRDA Finalises Land Rates in 3 Villages for Pune Ring Road Project
Pune, 23rd April 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has finalised land rates in three villages—Solu, Wadgaon Shinde and Nirgude—for its proposed ring road project. The district administration has submitted a proposal to PMRDA for direct acquisition of land in these areas.
PMRDA is planning an 83-km-long, 65-metre-wide ring road to ease traffic congestion in Pune and its surrounding regions. The project will require around 700 to 750 acres of land. While the outer ring road being developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has achieved nearly 30 per cent progress, PMRDA’s internal ring road has faced delays for several years.
The MSRDC ring road is expected to extend up to Solu village, where it will connect with PMRDA’s proposed alignment. As part of the project, PMRDA has already initiated land acquisition for a 6.5-km stretch between Alandi and Wagholi.
In the first phase, land rates have been fixed for three villages. Approximately 34.65 hectares in Solu, 5.71 hectares in Wadgaon Shinde, and 1.44 hectares in Nirgude will be acquired. The land will be procured through direct purchase, with compensation offered either in cash or in the form of Transferable Development Rights (TDR).
Overall, about 92.25 hectares of land will be acquired from 11 villages for the project. These include Ambegaon, Pisoli, Wadachiwadi, Kadamwak Vasti, Kolwadi, Jambhulwadi, Manjari Khurd, Bhilarewadi, Mangadewadi, Gujar Nimbalkarwadi and Yewalewadi.
Earlier, land rate determination had been completed in Bhilarewadi, Mangadewadi and Gujar Nimbalkarwadi. With Solu, Wadgaon Shinde and Nirgude now added to the list, PMRDA has accelerated the land acquisition process for the ring road project, which is expected to enhance connectivity and help reduce traffic congestion across the Pune metropolitan region.
