Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th May 2026: In an effort to curb rising air pollution, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Environment Engineering Department has been carrying out continuous inspection drives targeting Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants across the city. Strict action is being taken against units violating environmental norms, with a focus on effective on-ground implementation of dust-control measures.

As per instructions from Mayor Ravi Landge, the civic body’s nuisance detection squad inspected 10 RMC plants in Punawale, Moshi and Pimple Saudagar areas. During the inspections, serious violations were found at four plants, including non-functional dust-control systems, poor maintenance of premises and open storage of raw materials leading to dust pollution.

Following the drive, four units — Farande RMC Plant in Moshi, Yash RMC Plant in Chinchwad, Ram Group Crystal One RMC Plant in Moshi and Asawani Associates G.K. RMC Plant in Pimple Saudagar — were immediately sealed. Other units have been instructed to urgently implement necessary dust-control measures, failing which stricter action will be taken in the next phase. The civic administration has also intensified monitoring of construction and industrial projects across the city.

“Dust pollution in the city can pose serious health risks to citizens, and the municipal corporation cannot afford to ignore it. All construction projects, including RMC plants, must not only comply with environmental norms but also implement them responsibly. Action against violators is not a mere formality—it will be continuous and stringent. Providing a clean and safe environment to citizens is our responsibility, and there will be no compromise,” said Mayor Ravi Landge.

Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi said, “Effectively controlling air pollution in the city is our top priority. Construction and industrial projects must strictly adhere to environmental regulations, and any violation will not be tolerated. The civic administration is committed to improving air quality through consistent action against polluting sources.”

Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni added, “Framing rules alone is not enough; their effective implementation is crucial. Immediate action is being taken wherever required pollution-control measures are not found at RMC plants. Inspection drives will be intensified further, and strict action will continue against violators.”

Officials said such inspection drives will continue in the coming days as part of the civic body’s efforts to control pollution and ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for residents.
