Pune: Silent Protest at Balgandharva Chowk to Condemn Rape-Murder of Toddler in Nasrapur, Victim’s Father Urges Massive Turnout
Pune, 9th May 2026: A large number of citizens are expected to join a silent protest march on Sunday evening to condemn the brutal rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Nasrapur village, Bhor taluka, and demand the harshest possible punishment for the accused.
The march, organised by various social organisations, will also witness participation of the victim’s father, who has made an emotional appeal to parents and citizens to participate in large numbers.
The silent march is scheduled to begin at 5 pm on Sunday, May 10, from Balgandharva Chowk and will proceed to the Swatantryaveer Savarkar statue at Deccan Corner.
The victim’s father, visibly shattered by the loss, described the incident as the work of a “demon” and said the family has been plunged into complete silence and darkness. “A silence has spread in our house after her death and it is the same as death for us,” he said in a video message released on Saturday.
“I urge all parents to participate in large numbers in this protest and condemn this brutal attack. Such people should get the harshest punishment. We have to show the judiciary that society is still alive. I request everyone to join the silent march on 10th May at 5 pm from Balgandharva Chowk to Savarkar Samarak” he said.
The protest, titled ‘Virat Jan Aakrosh Mook Morcha’, has been organised to condemn not only the Nasrapur incident but also similar crimes against children.
The incident came to light last Friday when the 65-year-old accused allegedly lured the toddler, raped her, and then bludgeoned her to death with a stone in Nasrapur village. In an attempt to hide the body, he allegedly dumped it under a pile of cow dung. The child’s family and villagers launched a desperate search and discovered the body, triggering immediate protests and leading to the accused’s arrest.
The incident has sparked widespread anger across Maharashtra, with many questioning the safety of young children and demanding fast-track trials and capital punishment for those convicted of such heinous crimes against minors.
