Long Queues on Mumbai-Pune Expressway After Truck Gets Wedged Under Bridge
Pune, 11th May 2026: A major traffic jam was reported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Monday morning after a truck carrying an over-height load got stuck beneath the Baur bridge near Kamshet, severely affecting vehicular movement along the busy corridor.
Long queues of vehicles were seen near the Kamshet tunnel stretch, with commuters facing delays for several hours on the first working day of the week. Traffic movement on the expressway remained extremely slow as vehicles piled up behind the stranded truck.
According to officials, the truck became wedged under the low-clearance bridge due to the excessive height of its load, triggering congestion on the Pune-bound carriageway. Police and highway authorities rushed to the spot and launched efforts to remove the vehicle and clear the obstruction.
The heavy flow of office-hour traffic further worsened the situation, with motorists reporting slow movement across several kilometres near the affected stretch.
The incident has once again raised concerns over recurring traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway despite the ongoing Missing Link project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing bottlenecks on the route.
Authorities appealed to commuters to remain patient and drive cautiously while passing through the affected area as restoration work continued.
