Pune Gets State-Of-The-Art Cancer Hospital in Baner, CM Fadnavis Calls It Healthcare Milestone

Baner, 17th May 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the state-of-the-art cancer hospital developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on land owned by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) would emerge as a milestone in the healthcare sector.

Speaking at the inauguration of the advanced cancer treatment centre established jointly by the PMC and Apulki Healthcare, Fadnavis said the project reflected social responsibility and would serve as an inspiring model for healthcare infrastructure development.

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MP Medha Kulkarni, MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir and Rahul Kul, Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and other dignitaries were present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Fadnavis said cancer cases were increasing rapidly across the country and stressed the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment. He noted that cancer could be completely cured if detected in time, but delays in treatment often resulted in prolonged medical care and high expenses for patients and families.

Keeping this in view, he said the Central and State governments had included cancer treatment under various public healthcare schemes to ensure that common citizens receive timely and affordable medical care.

The chief minister further announced that Maharashtra was developing a large-scale “Cancer Grid” to strengthen cancer treatment services across the state. He said the initiative would help improve coordination among healthcare institutions and provide patients with more accessible and efficient treatment facilities.

Fadnavis also appreciated the collaborative effort between the Pune Municipal Corporation and Apulki Foundation in establishing the cancer hospital through the PPP model.

Earlier, the chief minister visited the hospital premises and reviewed various treatment departments, advanced medical equipment and patient care facilities available at the centre.

Municipal officials, representatives of Apulki Foundation, medical professionals and citizens were also present during the programme.
