Pune, 21st May 2026: Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce (SCAC) formally welcomed Prof. (Dr.) Manojkumar P. Devne as its new Principal at a special function held today in the college auditorium. The ceremony was attended by faculty, staff, distinguished guests, and members of the Symbiosis family.

The event featured addresses by Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis, Prof. (Dr.) Manojkumar P. Devne, Dr. Tessy Thadathil, Officiating Principal while Dr. Gandhali Parulekar, Registrar, SCAC, introduced the new Principal and highlighted his distinguished academic and administrative journey spanning over three decades.

A respected academician with extensive teaching, research, and leadership experience, Prof. Devne has served prestigious institutions including Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and S.P. College, Pune. His appointment marks a significant new chapter in the college’s continuing pursuit of academic excellence.

Welcoming the new Principal, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar expressed confidence in his leadership and outlined key priorities for the institution, including technological advancement, internationalization, stronger industry partnerships, alumni engagement, and enhanced research output. “Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce has immense potential, and under Dr. Devne’s leadership, we look forward to a transformative journey that strengthens its position among the leading institutions in the country.” Said, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Devne described his appointment as “a homecoming to an idea,” referring to the Symbiosis philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. “My foremost responsibility is to preserve and strengthen the unique spirit of Symbiosis—its academic rigor, inclusivity, and global outlook. I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to build upon the strong foundation of this institution.”

He outlined his vision for the college with focus on NEP 2020 implementation, research and innovation, global collaborations, community engagement, and enriching the student experience.

The welcome function marked the beginning of a promising new era for SCAC, with renewed commitment to excellence, innovation, and holistic development under Prof. Devne’s leadership.
