Pune: Traffic Police Propose Major Traffic Changes at RTO Chowk, Invite Public Feedback

Pune, 25th May 2026: The Pune city traffic police have proposed temporary traffic changes at the busy RTO Chowk junction under the Bund Garden traffic division to streamline and improve road safety in the area. Citizens have been invited to submit suggestions and objections regarding the proposed changes by June 6, 2026.

According to the proposal, vehicles coming from Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk will no longer be allowed to take a right turn at RTO Chowk towards Yerwada, Ruby Hall Clinic area and Jahangir Chowk.

Instead, motorists travelling from Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk will have to take a left turn at RTO Chowk and proceed around 100 metres ahead before taking a U-turn near Sangam Bridge to reach Yerwada, Ruby Hall area and Jahangir Chowk through the alternative route.

The stretch from Coco petrol pump at RTO Chowk to Sangam Bridge, measuring around 300 metres, is also proposed to be declared a ‘No Parking Zone’ to prevent obstruction caused by parked vehicles and ensure smooth traffic flow.

In addition, motorists travelling from Engineering College Chowk towards RTO Chowk via Sangam Bridge will be advised to use the left-side bridge.

Citizens who wish to submit suggestions or objections regarding the proposed traffic changes can do so in writing to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Control Branch, Yerwada Post Office, Bungalow No. 6, Airport Road, Pune, before June 6.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bhajibhakare said the final order would be issued after considering the suggestions and objections received from citizens. Necessary exemptions would also be provided for emergency service vehicles such as fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles and ambulances.
