Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Hadapsar, 29th May 2026: In a major action following the toxic liquor tragedy in Pune, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has suspended three police officers attached to Hadapsar Police Station for alleged negligence in duty. Till now a total of over 10 people have lost their lives in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The suspended officers include Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle, Assistant Police Inspector Haseena Shikalgar, and Police Sub-Inspector Hasan Mulani. The action comes amid mounting criticism over the alleged failure to curb the illegal liquor trade in the Hadapsar area, where several people lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor.
According to police sources, the suspension was ordered after preliminary findings indicated lapses in monitoring and action against illegal liquor activities within the jurisdiction of Hadapsar Police Station.
The toxic liquor case has triggered widespread outrage across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, with authorities intensifying investigations into the manufacturing and distribution network of the illicit liquor. Police teams and excise officials are conducting raids at multiple locations connected to the racket.
Further investigation in the case is underway by the state CID.
