Pimpri-Chinchwad Clash: 33 Arrested After Attack on Police During Civic Operation in Kudalwadi

Pimpri, 11th June 2026: Thirty-three people have been arrested and three juveniles detained after a mob allegedly attacked police personnel and disrupted an anti-encroachment drive targeting unauthorized religious structures in the Kudalwadi area of Chikhali in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to police, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had launched a demolition drive against illegal religious structures in Kudalwadi and Pawar Vasti areas of Chikhali. During the operation, a crowd of nearly 500 people gathered at the site and opposed the civic action.

The situation escalated when members of the crowd allegedly pelted stones at police personnel and official vehicles. Seven officers from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and 13 personnel of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) sustained injuries in the incident.

Assistant Police Inspector Ram Gomare lodged a complaint at Chikhali Police Station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested 33 individuals, while three juveniles were taken into custody.

The accused have been booked under charges including rioting, unlawful assembly, obstructing public servants from discharging their duties, and assault on police personnel during official action.

Police Inspector Amol Fadtare is conducting further investigation into the case.

Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any further law and order issues, police said.
