Fire at Disposable Plate Factory Damages Flats

Pune, 16th June 2026: A major fire broke out at a disposable plate manufacturing unit in Sadashiv Dangat Nagar, Ambegaon Budruk, along the Katraj Bypass Road on Tuesday afternoon, causing significant damage to nearby residential flats, a clinic, and a tiles warehouse.

According to officials from the Navale Fire Station, the fire alert was received at 12:46 pm, following which fire engines from the Navale, Sinhagad and Katraj fire stations were immediately dispatched to the spot. The firefighting operation concluded at around 3:05 pm.

When firefighters arrived, the blaze had engulfed the approximately 900-square-foot shed housing the disposable plate manufacturing unit.

Fire personnel quickly deployed hoses and launched a water spray operation to contain the flames. Using a field ventilator and by removing combustible materials from the site, the teams managed to bring the fire under control and eventually extinguished it completely.

The fire also spread to adjacent properties, causing extensive damage to four ground-floor flats and a clinic located in a neighbouring building. Additionally, a nearby tiles warehouse spread across approximately 6,000 square feet sustained substantial losses.

Officials estimated the total damage caused by the fire to be between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

The firefighting operation was carried out under the supervision of fire officers Umaratkar, Khedekar and Bhilare. Drivers Pangare and Erphule, along with firefighters from the first shift of the Navale, Sinhagad and Katraj fire stations, participated in the operation.

After extinguishing the blaze, fire personnel advised local residents on safety precautions before returning to their respective stations. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
