Pune, 18th June 2026: Pune Rural Police have arrested three persons in separate theft and chain-snatching cases and recovered stolen gold jewellery weighing around 24 tolas, valued at Rs 36 lakh, along with a motorcycle. The action led to the detection of eight crimes registered across Pune district.

The arrests follow a series of thefts reported over the past two months at the Narayangaon ST bus stand, where women passengers were targeted while boarding buses. In two cases registered on April 28, unidentified persons allegedly stole gold ornaments from the handbags of women passengers travelling from Narayangaon to villages in Junnar taluka.

Acting on the directions of senior officers, teams from the Local Crime Branch and Narayangaon police launched a parallel probe, analysing CCTV footage and technical evidence for nearly 20 days. Based on intelligence inputs, police detained Arjun Kanifnath Bhosale (27), a native of Shrirampur currently residing in Kopargaon, from the Bhosari area on June 6.

CCTV footage revealed the involvement of two men who used a black-and-red Pulsar motorcycle to snatch gold chains from women.

Based on technical analysis and a tip-off, police laid a trap in the Shingve area and arrested Omkar Ranganath Shendge (19) of Dongargaon in Shirur taluka and Ajay Balu Devkar (27) of Kavthe Yemai in Shirur taluka on June 8.
