Godman Mishra Scandal: Pune Police Raid Kharadi Ashram, Find Tunnel Escape Plan, Secret Videos of 35 Couples
Kharadi, 19th January 2026: The investigation into self-styled godman Radhamohan Mishra (59), arrested for allegedly exploiting a woman (41) devotee under the guise of spiritual guidance, has revealed disturbing details from digital devices seized from his ashram.
According to police, a preliminary examination of 23 pen drives recovered during the raid has uncovered videos purportedly showing intimate moments of at least 35 couples. Investigators suspect that Mishra allegedly instructed women devotees to record private moments with their husbands on mobile phones and later transfer the footage to him via pen drives.
During the search operation, police seized a large cache of electronic and physical evidence, including 12 laptops, one tablet, 11 mobile phones, 19 hard disks, 23 pen drives, DVDs and CDs. Officers also recovered ₹6.5 lakh in cash, jewellery worth approximately ₹15 lakh, and 10 live cartridges.
Senior police officials said efforts are underway to identify the individuals featured in the videos and to determine the circumstances under which the recordings were made and collected.
The case came to light after a Pune-based software engineer lodged a complaint alleging that Mishra, who claimed to be an incarnation of God, subjected her to sexual, mental, and physical abuse for nearly 17 years. The complainant has further alleged that she was subjected to electric shocks, inhuman treatment, and coercion, and that her properties were fraudulently transferred in his name.
Following his arrest, investigators expanded the probe, leading to the emergence of several new leads and allegations based on material seized from the ashram.
Tunnel Plan to Evade Arrest?
Police are also probing claims that Mishra had begun preparations for an underground escape route from the ashram. Investigators suspect that after a similar fake godman (Kharat) case surfaced in Nashik, he became wary of possible police action and allegedly planned a tunnel to escape during a raid.
However, before any such plan could allegedly be executed, the police arrested him. Authorities are now examining whether excavation work had begun and whether others were involved in the alleged escape plan.
Officials said the investigation remains at a crucial stage, and more victims or witnesses may come forward as forensic analysis of the seized digital devices continues.
Police have arrested eight persons till now, including six women.
