Pune Monsoon Delay: IMD Forecasts No Rain for Next 3 Days, Heat to Persist
Pune, 19th June 2026: With June nearing its halfway mark, the city is still awaiting the arrival of the southwest monsoon. Despite cloudy skies and intermittent overcast conditions over the past few days, Pune has received little to no rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that rain is unlikely over the next three days, further delaying monsoon showers and keeping temperatures elevated.
The city witnessed partly cloudy skies throughout Thursday, briefly raising hopes of rainfall. Clouds gathered at several intervals during the day, but strong afternoon sunshine led to hot and humid conditions.
Although clouds returned in the evening, they failed to bring any significant rain, leaving residents to endure alternating spells of sunshine and cloud cover.
According to IMD data, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum temperature of 24.2°C on Thursday. Weather officials said there is unlikely to be any major change in conditions over the next two to three days, with warm and humid weather expected to persist.
On Friday, the maximum temperature is likely to remain around 37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover near 24°C. Skies are expected to remain mostly clear, turning partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening hours.
A slight relief may arrive from Saturday onwards, when the maximum temperature is expected to dip marginally to around 35°C. The minimum temperature is likely to remain around 24°C. While skies are expected to remain mostly clear with partly cloudy conditions later in the day, the IMD has indicated the possibility of light rainfall in isolated areas.
With no widespread rainfall forecast in the immediate future, Pune residents may have to wait a little longer for the monsoon’s much-anticipated arrival.
