Pune: Nasrapur Minor Rape and Murder Case Verdict to Be Pronounced on June 25; Chargesheet Filed in 15 Days, 55 Witnesses Examined
Pune, 24th June 2026: The Special Court in Pune is set to pronounce its verdict on June 25 in the sensational Nasrapur minor rape and murder case that shocked Maharashtra earlier this year.
The case, involving the alleged rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur village of Bhor taluka on Maharashtra Day, triggered widespread public outrage and demands for the strictest punishment for the accused.
The investigation was carried out by the Pune Rural Police, who registered the case at Rajgad Police Station immediately after the incident.
Under the guidance of the Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to probe the crime. The investigation was led by a senior police inspector.
Police arrested the accused, a 65-year-old man, and conducted an extensive investigation using CCTV footage, medical evidence, forensic reports, eyewitness testimony, DNA analysis, and other technical evidence.
Investigators filed a 1,200-page chargesheet within just 15 days of the crime. The chargesheet included statements from more than 55 witnesses, along with circumstantial, forensic, and technical evidence, making it one of the fastest investigations completed in a case of this nature in Maharashtra.
The trial commenced on May 21 before the Special Court and was conducted on a day-to-day basis. Given the sensitive nature of the case, all proceedings were held in camera to protect the identity and privacy of the victim and her family.
The Special Public Prosecutor examined 55 witnesses during the trial, including the victim’s parents, grandmother, eyewitnesses, panch witnesses, investigating officers, forensic experts, and DNA analysts. He was assisted by another advocate. The defence was represented by its counsel, while the victim’s family was represented by separate legal counsel.
After the completion of evidence and final arguments by both sides, the Special Court reserved its judgment. The verdict will be delivered on Thursday, June 25.
