Hadapsar, 26th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun road reinstatement work near the Sayyed Nagar Railway Crossing on Handewadi Road after civic officials visited the site following issues highlighted by Punekar News.

For nearly a month, commuters using the busy stretch had been facing severe traffic congestion due to the ongoing stormwater drainage and chamber construction work. The damaged road, large potholes, uneven surface, and narrowed carriageway resulted in daily traffic snarls, particularly between 4 pm and 7 pm. The road serves as a key link connecting Handewadi, Mohammadwadi, Sayyed Nagar, Sasane Nagar, and the Solapur Highway, carrying a heavy volume of two-wheelers, cars, buses, and commercial vehicles.

After Punekar News highlighted the issue and the difficulties faced by thousands of commuters, PMC officials visited the site to inspect the ongoing work and assess the road conditions. Following the inspection, the civic body initiated road reinstatement work to restore the damaged stretch and improve traffic flow.

Residents expressed their gratitude to Punekar News, stating that despite nearly a month of traffic congestion and poor road conditions, the issue had not received adequate attention until it was reported. They said the news report brought the matter to the authorities’ notice, leading to prompt action on the ground.

Residents also thanked PMC Junior Engineer Bapu Raghunath Baravkar for responding swiftly to their concerns and ensuring that the road reinstatement work commenced without delay. They appreciated his efforts in supervising the work and expressed hope that the remaining stormwater drainage, chamber construction, and final road restoration would be completed within the promised timeline.

The ongoing road restoration is expected to improve traffic flow and provide much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters using one of the busiest connecting roads in the area.
