Pune, 26th June 2026: A new organization, Vishva Sindhi Seva Sangam (United), will be launched on August 1 to bring Pune’s estimated 45,000-member Sindhi community under a common platform through a network of area-wise committees and a central coordinating body. The VSSS has been working for the community for the last 27 years in more than 92 countries.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Bobby Karnani, Maharashtra State President of the organization, said the initiative seeks to strengthen community participation, preserve Sindhi culture, and create a structured framework for educational, social welfare, and entrepreneurial activities.

The press conference was attended by Prakash Karnani, Dr Himanshu Ajwani, Dr Dimple Ajwani, Sham Thakur, Kunal Hemrajani, Hitesh Sugnani, Amit Mirpuri, Satish Athwani, Karishma Athwani, Sarita Purswani, Raashi Nachnani, Jai Keswani, Eshita Motiani, Aishwarya Ghaatge-Gurnani, Siddharth Sham Thadani, Shridaa Raheja, and Harish Dodeja.

Karnani said that although Pune has a sizeable Sindhi population, participation in existing organizations remains limited. A unified platform, she said, would enable the community to undertake larger social and cultural initiatives while improving access to government welfare schemes and grants.

Under the proposed structure, local committees will be formed across different parts of the city to connect Sindhi families, while a central core committee will coordinate the citywide program and oversee future initiatives.

The organization plans to organize community celebrations such as Cheti Chand, Lal Loi, Sindhi Language Day, and Sindhi Sammelan to promote the Sindhi language and cultural heritage. It also proposes to hold an annual outstation programme aimed at strengthening ties among community members.

Speaking about the welfare initiatives, Dr Himanshu Ajwani said the organisation intends to provide scholarships, educational assistance, a mentorship program, and career guidance, particularly for students preparing for civil services and other competitive careers. It also plans to support the marriages of economically weaker Sindhi girls and extend assistance to needy families.

The organization also proposes to prepare a directory of Sindhi entrepreneurs and professionals to encourage business networking and collaborations. Sponsorships and fundraising initiatives will be undertaken to support community welfare and cultural programmes.

The organizers appealed to Sindhi families across Pune to participate in the initiative by volunteering as area coordinators, mentoring young members, and contributing to community activities. They said an introductory meeting would soon be held to constitute the central core committee, appoint area presidents, and prepare the annual calendar of programs.
