Pune, 26th June 2026: The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort has taken a fresh turn, with the Lonavala Rural Police claiming that chats recovered from the mobile phones of prime accused Siya Goyal contradict the statements she has made during interrogation. Investigators have also alleged that the accused surveyed Lohagad Fort weeks before the incident as part of the alleged conspiracy and later attempted to destroy digital evidence by deleting calls and messages from their mobile phones.

According to the police, Siya Goyal has made inconsistent statements during questioning. She recently told investigators that she never wanted to marry Ketan Agarwal and had informed him of her decision. She further claimed that whenever she refused to marry him, Ketan would respond by saying it was “too late” and that “things had gone too far” for anything to change.

However, police officials said chats recovered from the mobile phones of Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal present a different picture. Investigators claim the conversations show the two interacting like a typical couple, with affectionate exchanges taking place before their scheduled wedding, contradicting Siya’s recent version of events.

Police officials said the recovered chats have raised serious questions about the credibility of Siya’s statements and have become a crucial part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigators have also alleged that the murder was planned well in advance. According to the police, Ketan, who was fond of trekking, was allegedly taken to Lohagad Fort by Siya during the last week of May under the pretext of an outing. During the visit, investigators claim she surveyed the fort, identified the locations of CCTV cameras, and studied the surrounding terrain. Police further alleged that before the incident, she had searched for videos of Lohagad Fort online to familiarise herself with the area.

Police have also alleged that after the June 18 incident and before their arrest, Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary deleted call records and messages from their mobile phones in an attempt to destroy evidence. Investigators believe the two had exchanged hundreds of messages that could provide crucial leads in the case.

Both mobile phones have been seized and sent to a forensic laboratory to recover deleted calls, messages, and other digital data. Police expect the forensic examination to provide additional evidence regarding the alleged conspiracy and help establish the sequence of events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in police custody. Officials said further revelations are expected after the forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices is completed. The investigation is ongoing.
