Pune, 27th June 2026: After making its arrival with two days of rainfall, the southwest monsoon has taken an unexpected pause over Pune, leading to a sharp rise in daytime temperatures and uncomfortable humidity across the city.

The maximum temperature, which had dropped to around 31°C earlier this week, climbed to 35°C on Friday, bringing back intense sunshine and sultry conditions during the afternoon. Weather stations at Dapodi, Koregaon Park, Shivajinagar, and Chinchwad recorded maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 35°C.

Clear morning skies and strong solar heating made the heat particularly intense, leaving residents grappling with unusually warm and humid conditions in the middle of the monsoon season. While Pune city has remained largely dry over the past two days, both farmers and residents are eagerly awaiting widespread rainfall to provide relief.

Although the city has experienced a prolonged dry spell, parts of rural Pune district continued to receive isolated showers under cloudy skies. On Friday, light rainfall was reported from Indapur taluka, Rajgurunagar, Shirur, and parts of Dapodi on the city’s outskirts. Rainfall activity has also weakened over the ghat sections and dam catchment areas during the past 24 hours, with only scattered light showers recorded.

According to the weather forecast, Pune is likely to witness partly cloudy skies over the next two to three days. Localised weather developments during the afternoon and evening may trigger light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in isolated parts of the city.
