Pune: Land Acquisition Funds Delay Nashik Phata-Khed Corridor; Landge Seeks CM’s Intervention
Pune, 29th June 2026: Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge has urged chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure immediate availability of funds for land acquisition required for the proposed Nashik Phata-Khed elevated corridor on the Pune-Nashik highway. Pending the release of state government funds, he has suggested that the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) be directed to temporarily finance the acquisition to prevent delays in the project.
In a letter to the chief minister, Landge said the Pune-Nashik highway is a vital corridor connecting Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Chakan and Khed-Rajgurunagar, besides serving several industrial hubs. While Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the elevated corridor and the tendering process is already underway, the project has been held up due to the non-availability of state funds for land acquisition.
Landge pointed out that rapid urbanisation along the Nashik Phata-Chakan-Khed stretch has led to severe traffic congestion, with commuters often taking two to three hours to travel the nearly 30-km distance, resulting in considerable loss of time and fuel.
He proposed that PCMC and PMRDA provide temporary funds from their respective budgets to complete the land acquisition process on priority. The amount can be reimbursed once the state government releases the required funds, he said.
According to the letter, acquisition of 1,23,843 sq m of land within the PCMC limits will require around Rs 262.79 crore. Another Rs 288 crore will be needed to acquire 10.5013 hectares of land in the PMRDA jurisdiction.
Landge has also requested the chief minister to direct the concerned departments to facilitate the arrangement of funds through PCMC and PMRDA until the state government releases the allocation. Copies of the letter have also been sent to PCMC commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and PMRDA metropolitan commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari.
“The Pune-Nashik Highway is one of the busiest and most industrially significant roads in the state. The project cannot be allowed to stall due to a lack of funds for land acquisition. Until the state government releases the required amount, PCMC and PMRDA should provide temporary financial assistance to complete the land acquisition process on priority. This will accelerate the project, ease traffic congestion and provide major relief to lakhs of commuters, entrepreneurs and the industrial sector,” Landge said.
