Keshavnagar, 30th June 2026: A major fire broke out at Mulchand Clothing Store in Lonkar Vasti, Keshavnagar, Mundhwa, on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from the Pune Fire Brigade. Firefighters from the Kharadi, B.T. Kawade Road and Hadapsar Fire Stations worked together to bring the blaze under control after an intensive firefighting operation.

The shop was filled with dense smoke, forcing firefighters to enter the premises wearing breathing apparatus (BA) sets. An exhaust blower was used to clear the smoke, while small side windows were broken open and enlarged using hammers to improve ventilation, enabling firefighters to access the affected area and extinguish the flames.

Station Officer Pramod Sonawane said, “When we reached the spot, the shop was locked and all the doors were closed. The rear portion of the store was completely gutted by the fire. The shop had a heavy fire load due to the large quantity of garments stored inside. We deployed three fire engines and one water tanker to control the blaze. At this stage, the exact cause of the fire is not known.”

The firefighting operation was led by Station Officer Pramod Sonawane and Deputy Fire Officer Vilas Dadas. The response team included Leading Firemen Sandeep Randive and Shaikat Sheikh; Drivers Satish Pawar, Pravin Chand, Narayan Jagtap and Bajrang Lokhande; and Firemen Ganesh Kumbhar, Sanjay Bhosale, Dheeraj Jadhav, Abhijit Darade, Harshad Pawar, Pranay Kawade, Aniket Taru, Ramdas Lad and Dnyaneshwar Dhakane.
