Pune, 1st July 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to worker welfare and responsible construction practices, CREDAI Pune, through its Labour Welfare Committee, has launched the Site Safety Audit Initiative in collaboration with Safeskill Safety Services. The initiative was inaugurated on June 30 at Godrej River Royale in Mahalunge, a project by Synergy SKI Infra Developments.

The initiative aims to strengthen the culture of safety across construction sites by encouraging systematic safety assessments and continuous improvement among member developers. It also reflects CREDAI Pune’s commitment to protecting construction workers while ensuring compliance with statutory safety regulations and industry best practices.

The Site Safety Audit programme will evaluate key aspects of construction safety, including electrical safety, working at heights, excavation activities, material handling, temporary staging and scaffolding, fire safety and hazard management, risk assessment practices, and plant and machinery safety.

Speaking at the launch, Sandeep Shitole, Director (Operations), Synergy SKI Infra Developments, said, “We have been associated with this initiative for quite some time and have been working consistently in this direction. However, through CREDAI, we truly understood the importance and significance of this platform. I thank CREDAI for continuously motivating and supporting builders, contractors and everyone associated with the construction industry. Their efforts have created greater awareness and encouraged stakeholders to strive for higher safety standards. Ours is essentially a service industry, and whatever we do ultimately benefits our customers and society.”

The audit process will include detailed site inspections, verification of safety documentation, and interactions with project engineers, safety officers and on-site personnel. Experienced auditors from Safeskill Safety Services will conduct the assessments, enabling developers to identify safety gaps, strengthen workplace practices and create safer construction environments. Each participating site will receive a comprehensive audit report highlighting observations, compliance status and recommendations for improvement.

The initiative marks the beginning of a collaborative industry effort to raise safety standards and promote healthier and safer working conditions across construction sites in Pune. According to CREDAI Pune, the programme has already received an encouraging response from member developers.

Speaking on the occasion, Manish Jain, President of CREDAI Pune, said, “Construction is one of the country’s largest employment-generating sectors, and the safety and well-being of every worker is our collective responsibility. Through this Site Safety Audit Initiative, CREDAI Pune aims to encourage developers to adopt the highest safety standards, proactively identify risks and create safer work environments. A strong safety culture not only protects lives but also improves productivity and enhances the overall quality of construction practices.”

J.P. Shroff, Vice President of CREDAI Pune and Chairman of the Labour Welfare Committee, said, “Many people become anxious when they hear the word ‘audit’ because they associate it with finding faults. However, the word ‘audit’ comes from the Latin word ‘audire,’ which means ‘to listen.’ The purpose of an audit is to understand what is happening on the ground, identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen processes. A safety audit is not about pointing out shortcomings; it is about learning, improving and working together to make construction sites safer for everyone.”

With the theme “Safety Today Secures Tomorrow,” CREDAI Pune said it will continue promoting responsible construction practices while fostering a strong safety culture across the construction industry.

Established in 1982, CREDAI Pune is the apex body representing real estate developers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The organisation has over 2,000 member developers, including 450 primary members, and represents nearly 70 per cent of construction activity in the Pune Metropolitan Region.
