Pune, 4th July 2026: Moderate to heavy monsoon showers swept across Pune district in the 24 hours leading up to 03:00 UTC (8:30 AM IST) on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

According to the latest observations compiled by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune, the district witnessed a widespread wet spell, with rural and hilly regions bearing the brunt of the heavy downpours. Bhor taluka emerged as the wettest region in the district, recording an impressive 85.0 mm of rainfall.

The monsoon activity was particularly robust in the western hilly tracts and rural pockets of the district. Following Bhor’s lead, Nimgiri registered a substantial 56.5 mm of rainfall. The landslide-sensitive area of Malin also experienced steady precipitation, clocking 32.5 mm. Other key rural and semi-urban stations recorded moderate precipitation, with Rajgurunagar receiving 18.5 mm and Ballalwadi logging 16.5 mm.

Towards the eastern plains, the rainfall intensity was relatively lower, with Shirur recording 7.0 mm, Baramati reporting 4.0 mm, Narayangaon registering 3.5 mm, and both Daund and Talegaon registering a light 3.0 mm of rainfall.

In the urban and suburban sectors of Pune, the rain was moderate but consistent according to the official weather update screen generated by the IMD at 9:13:27 AM IST. The National Defence Academy (NDA) recorded the highest urban rainfall at 33.0 mm, followed closely by Pashan with 31.4 mm. Lohgaon experienced 29.0 mm of rainfall, while the industrial corridor saw steady precipitation with Dapodi and Chinchwad recording 23.5 mm and 19.5 mm respectively.

Lavale registered 10.5 mm of rainfall to round out the active city stations.
The heavy cloud cover and continuous precipitation pushed Relative Humidity (RH) levels to near-saturation across the city. Shivajinagar, Lohgaon, and Chinchwad all recorded a maximum 100% Relative Humidity, while Pashan, Lavale, and NDA hovered closely at 98%.

Consequently, temperatures took a sharp dip, offering respite from any summer heat.
