According to meteorologists red alert is likely to remain in place for the next 48 hours over Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad and the ghat areas of Nashik, Pune and Satara due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. They added that the intensity of rainfall over Pune city is expected to gradually reduce after the afternoon of July 5.
Rainfall trends in recent years indicate that Tamhini has consistently remained one of the wettest locations in the Pune region during the monsoon. However, this year, Bhira in neighbouring Raigad district has been receiving even more intense rainfall. Bhira recorded 243 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
