Sadashiv Peth, 4th July 2026: In a move aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience for thousands of devotees visiting the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple, the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganpati Trust has launched a free eco-friendly electric vehicle service. The initiative, supported by Eka Mobility, will initially operate between Shaniwar Wada and the temple, offering devotees a convenient and comfortable mode of transport.

The electric vehicle was donated by Eka Mobility as part of its commitment to sustainable mobility and public service. The vehicle was formally handed over to the Trust in the presence of Trust President Sunil Rasane, Treasurer Mahesh Suryawanshi, and other trustees. Representing Eka Mobility, Sunanda Mehta and Arihant Mehta attended the handover ceremony.

The service has been introduced to assist devotees, particularly senior citizens and those visiting during heavy rain or extreme heat, by reducing the walking distance to the temple. The Trust said the initiative is expected to improve accessibility while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.

In the first phase, the electric vehicle will operate free of charge between Shaniwar Wada and the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple. The Trust also plans to expand the service in the coming months to include pick-up facilities from Pune Railway Station and the State Transport (ST) Bus Stand, making it easier for outstation devotees to reach the temple.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Rasane, President of the Trust, said, “This eco-friendly and comfortable vehicle has been introduced exclusively for the convenience of Ganesh devotees. With an operating cost of nearly ₹0.50 per kilometre, it will enable us to provide an efficient and sustainable transport service.”

Arihant Mehta of Eka Mobility said the collaboration with the Trust was a matter of pride for the company. “We are happy to introduce this free electric vehicle service for devotees. We look forward to expanding the initiative with the Trust’s support so that more devotees can benefit from a safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly journey to the temple,” he said.

The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on sustainable urban mobility while improving facilities for the large number of devotees who visit one of Pune’s most prominent Ganesh temples throughout the year.
