Pune: 408 Devotees Rescued as Indrayani River Floods Alandi; Rescue Operations Continue on War Footing
Alandi, 6th July 2026: A total of 408 devotees stranded at various locations in Alandi after the Indrayani River overflowed have been rescued safely in a coordinated operation carried out by the Alandi Municipal Council, district disaster management authorities, police, fire brigade, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other concerned agencies. 20 police personnel were also rescued.
According to the administration, rescue teams evacuated 220 devotees from the Dnyaneshwar Temple precinct, 100 from Indrayani Nagari, 60 from Thakurbuwa Mandap, and 28 from Gopalpura, taking the total number of rescued devotees to 408.
Apart from the large-scale evacuations, several devotees who were stranded individually at different locations were also shifted to safer places.
The rescue teams also saved around 150 cows from flood-affected areas and relocated them to safe shelters.
The administration said rescue and relief operations are continuing on a war footing, with all concerned departments closely monitoring the flood situation.
Authorities have appealed to residents and devotees not to believe rumours, to follow only official advisories, and to contact the administration in case of any emergency or assistance requirement.
