Pune, 6th July 2026: Water supply to industries in the Chakan MIDC was disrupted on Monday after heavy rain damaged an electricity conductor, leading to a power outage at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s (MIDC) Andhra Jacquelline pumping station.

The disruption, which began around 9.15 am, affected water supply to industrial units across the Chakan MIDC, according to the Federation of Chakan Industries (FCI).

Dilip Batwal, CEO of the FCI, said the power failure was caused by damage to an MSEDCL conductor following incessant rainfall. He added that restoration work was delayed as severe waterlogging prevented Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) personnel and fault-finding vehicles from reaching the site.

“MSEDCL teams are working to restore power at the earliest. The MIDC has assured that water supply will be resumed on priority once electricity supply to the pumping station is restored,” Batwal said.

The federation has appealed to industries in the area to cooperate and inform their employees about the temporary disruption. The outage comes at a time when heavy rain has severely affected industrial activity across Chakan, with several factories suspending operations due to flooding and waterlogging.
