Pune, 6th July 2026: A rescue operation at Alandi was successfully completed on Monday after 24 people, including 20 police personnel from the Navi Mumbai Police, were safely evacuated from a pilgrims’ accommodation building inundated by floodwaters.

According to officials, the group had been stranded since 6 am inside the Bhakta Niwas of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Temple Trust after incessant rain caused floodwaters to rise up to the first floor. The building also lost electricity, while all access routes were cut off due to flooding.

Following an emergency alert from the district collector’s office, teams of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s Disaster Response Force (PDRF), along with the local administration, launched a rescue operation.

The rescue personnel safely evacuated all 20 police personnel and four other civilians from the building despite challenging flood conditions. Officials confirmed that all 24 people were rescued without any injuries.

Authorities said disaster response teams remain on high alert as heavy rainfall continues across Pune district and urged residents living in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas to stay at safe locations and follow official advisories.
