Pune, Maharashtra Unlikely to See Major Monsoon Revival This Week: IMD
Pune, 13th July 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has ruled out any major revival of the monsoon over Maharashtra this week, even as light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places across the state.
No rainfall was recorded in key parts of Pune on Sunday. The city’s forecast for the week is for mainly clear skies turning partly cloudy by afternoon or evening, with the possibility of light rain towards the weekend.
According to the IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa from July 12 to 14, Madhya Maharashtra, the Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch from July 12 to 18, and Marathwada between July 14 and 18.
Meteorologists said several weather systems, including the monsoon trough, a western disturbance and upper-air cyclonic circulations over northeast Bihar, south Bangladesh and northeast Assam, are currently active. However, they are not expected to trigger widespread heavy rainfall over Maharashtra.
“The prevailing weather systems are not favourable for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Pune or most parts of Maharashtra. Instead, heavy rainfall activity is likely to remain concentrated over northeast India, West Bengal and Bihar over the next two to three days, while east Uttar Pradesh may receive isolated heavy rain over the next four to five days. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Meghalaya on July 12,” a senior IMD official said.
