Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th July 2026: With the monsoon increasing the risk of dengue, malaria and other communicable diseases, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified preventive measures across the city, focusing on mosquito control, sanitation drives and public awareness campaigns.

The civic body has urged residents to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes, prevent waterlogging and use only boiled or purified drinking water. Citizens have also been advised to keep food covered to reduce the risk of water- and food-borne diseases.

As part of its anti-mosquito campaign, the PCMC has appealed to residents to regularly clean water tanks, coolers, flower pots, tyres and other containers where water may stagnate. Officials have advised citizens to inspect such places at least once a week and ensure that water does not accumulate.

The civic administration said it is carrying out anti-larval spraying, fogging operations, door-to-door surveys and awareness campaigns across the city. Preventive spraying is also being undertaken in vulnerable areas to curb mosquito breeding.

The medical department has strengthened surveillance at civic hospitals and health centres, where suspected patients are being screened and provided necessary treatment.

PCMC Commissioner Ravi Landge appealed to citizens to cooperate with the civic body’s efforts by adopting preventive measures. “Public participation is crucial to effectively control communicable diseases during the monsoon. People experiencing fever, body ache, vomiting, diarrhoea or other symptoms should immediately visit the nearest health centre and seek medical advice. Preventing water stagnation and maintaining hygiene are the most effective ways to control the spread of infectious diseases,” he said.
