Pune, 16th July 2026 : The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched an AI-enabled grievance redressal portal that allows citizens to report cases of food adulteration, counterfeit medicines, substandard drugs and other violations through a simple voice-based system.

The initiative was launched by Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe as part of the department’s efforts to make complaint registration more accessible, transparent and efficient.

Announcing the launch, Mundhe said, “Just Speak. FDA Maharashtra has launched a grievance redressal portal for citizens. It is an AI-enabled platform with auto-assignment, auto-escalation and built-in accountability with traceability features.”

The portal enables citizens to submit complaints by speaking in Marathi, Hindi or English, eliminating the need to fill lengthy forms. The AI system automatically converts the spoken complaint into a structured written complaint, which is then forwarded to the appropriate officer for action.

According to the Maharashtra FDA, the platform has been designed to improve public access to grievance redressal while ensuring quicker action against violations related to food and drug safety. Citizens can also track the status of their complaints online after submission.

The portal incorporates several advanced features, including AI-enabled complaint registration, automatic assignment of complaints to the concerned officer, auto-escalation if a complaint is not addressed within the stipulated time, built-in accountability mechanisms and complete traceability throughout the complaint resolution process.

The launch comes amid an intensified statewide enforcement drive led by the Maharashtra FDA. In recent months, the department has carried out raids against food adulteration, fake medicines, illegal cosmetics and unsafe food products. Authorities have seized adulterated milk, unlicensed Ayurvedic medicines and illegal cosmetic products, while also suspending the licences of food establishments found violating food safety norms. Surveillance has also been strengthened for high-risk food categories, particularly milk and dairy products.

The Maharashtra FDA said the new portal is expected to encourage greater public participation in reporting violations and strengthen enforcement efforts to safeguard consumer health across the state.
