Yerawada, 16th July 2026: The Yerawada Fire Station has reportedly been functioning without electricity for the past four days, raising serious concerns over its emergency response capabilities.

According to available information, the prolonged power outage has disrupted several critical services at the fire station. The telephone lines are not working, wireless communication sets have gone offline, and pumps used to fill water into fire tenders have become non-functional due to the lack of electricity. As a result, several electronic systems at the station remain out of service.

Sources said that the matter has already been brought to the notice of the concerned ward office. However, despite repeated intimation, the electricity supply has not yet been restored.
The situation has sparked concern as the fire brigade is an essential emergency service.

Officials and local sources warned that if a major fire emergency is reported, fire tenders may not be able to refill water because the pumps require electricity to operate, potentially affecting the speed and effectiveness of firefighting operations.

Pune Fire Brigade Chief Devendra Potphode did not respond to calls for his statement on the issue.
