Pune Police Launch “Secure Horizon for Youth” Campaign to Combat Drug Menace
Swargate, 17th July 2026: In a major push to make the city drug-free, the Pune City Police successfully organized a massive anti-narcotic drug awareness program under its newly launched initiative, “Secure Horizon for Youth.”
The grand event was held on Thursday morning at the Ganesh Kala Krida Kendra near Nehru Stadium in Swargate, Pune. The campaign aims to raise widespread awareness among youth, students, and citizens about the devastating impacts of substance abuse, fostering collective public participation to build a safe, healthy, and addiction-free society.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar Issues a Call to Action
Delivering the keynote address, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar urged the youth to take a stand and lead the crusade against drug abuse.
“Youth must remain addiction-free to bring positive change to society. I appeal to the younger generation to come together and actively participate in the collective fight against the menace of narcotics, helping us build a safer and healthier Pune,” said Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
Highlights of the Awareness Campaign
The program commenced with an introductory speech by Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, who appealed to the young audience to steer clear of addictive substances and embrace positive, healthy lifestyles.

Presentation on the Drug Crisis: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation analyzing the drug problem. Additional Superintendent of Police for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Himmat Jadhav, expanded on the rising threat of narcotics, its severe social consequences, preventive strategies, and the critical role of citizen cooperation.
Value-Based Education: Education Officer (Secondary and Higher Secondary) Korkar spoke to the students about the necessity of preserving moral values alongside academic success.
Inspirational Guidance: Sanjay Chande, Principal of Tikaram Jagannath College, Khadki, motivated students on building successful careers, maintaining strict self-discipline, and developing good habits.
Short Film & Oath Ceremony: A short film highlighting the harsh realities and ill effects of drug addiction was unveiled. The event culminated in a solemn ceremony where all attendees took a mass pledge to stay away from drugs and inspire others to live addiction-free lives.
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswi Satpute.
