New Delhi, 20th July 2026: When the pressure was at its highest and questions over his form refused to fade, Rohit Sharma delivered the perfect response with the bat. At the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, the Indian captain produced a magnificent century that will be remembered as one of the finest knocks of his ODI career, despite India’s defeat to England.

Chasing a daunting target, Rohit anchored India’s innings with a commanding 138 off 110 deliveries, smashing 17 fours and five sixes. His fluent strokeplay and ability to dominate the England bowling attack kept India in contention for much of the chase. Blending aggression with composure, the Indian skipper found the boundary consistently and ensured the required run rate remained within reach during his stay at the crease.

With his innings, Rohit became the first Indian cricketer to score an ODI century at Lord’s, widely regarded as the “Home of Cricket”. In the process, he surpassed Sourav Ganguly’s previous highest ODI score by an Indian at the historic venue, adding another milestone to his illustrious career.

The century came at a crucial time, following widespread discussions about Rohit’s recent form in the ODI format. The experienced opener answered his critics in emphatic fashion, producing one of the standout innings of the series on one of cricket’s grandest stages.

Although the result went in England’s favour, Rohit’s innings stood out as the defining individual performance of the match. His century not only reaffirmed his importance to India’s ODI setup but also showcased his ability to deliver under pressure in challenging conditions.

While England celebrated the series victory, Rohit Sharma left Lord’s with a historic achievement, etching his name into the venue’s rich cricketing legacy with an innings of exceptional class and significance.
