Ernakulam–Pune Express AC Coach Fails at Panvel, Passengers Shifted; Train Running 8 Hours Late
Pune, 29th July 2026: Passengers travelling on the Ernakulam–Pune Express (Train No. 22149) faced an extended journey on Wednesday as the train was running around eight hours behind schedule, while a separate coach-related technical fault was detected after its arrival at Panvel.
The train, scheduled to arrive at Panvel at 2:25 am, reached Platform 5 at around 6:30 am, approximately four hours late. As per the latest official running information, the train was expected to reach Pune at around 2:30 pm, making its projected delay at Pune approximately eight hours.
After the train arrived at Panvel, railway staff detected a broken control arm in the B1 coach. Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila described the issue as a Carriage and Wagon (C&W) failure.
The B1 coach was being detached from the train following the detection of the fault. Passengers travelling in the affected coach were being adjusted in other coaches so that they could continue their journey towards Pune.
The coach-related fault occurred after the train had already reached Panvel late and is separate from the train’s overall delay from its originating station. The available railway information does not attribute the eight-hour delay to the B1 coach failure.
For passengers travelling in B1, the detachment of the coach means shifting to other available coaches during an already extended journey. Such movement can also affect the comfort and convenience of passengers, particularly those travelling with luggage or requiring specific reserved accommodation.
The train’s scheduled and expected timings indicate the extent of the delay: it was due at Panvel at 2:25 am, reached the station at 6:30 am, and was expected to arrive at Pune at approximately 2:30 pm.
