Symbiosis Celebrates International Students’ Day Reinforces Spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’

Pune, 31st July 2026: “It is very important that we do well in academics. However, it is equally important that we diversify ourselves and devote equal time to sports, mental well-being and emotional health. The next generation must work in close collaboration with governments to solve the challenges of society and contribute meaningfully to nation-building,” said Shri Jitendra Dudi (IAS), District Collector, Pune, while addressing the International Students’ Day celebration organised by Symbiosis International Cultural Centre (SICC).

Symbiosis International Cultural Centre (SICC) celebrated International Students’ Day with great enthusiasm at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium, Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, bringing together students from across the globe in a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, global friendship and the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – The World is One Family. Shri Jitendra Dudi (IAS), District Collector, Pune, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The function was presided over by Prof. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Founder & President, Symbiosis. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis & Chancellor, Symbiosis International University (SIU), Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice Chancellor, SIU, and Mr. Henry Tebandeke (Uganda), President, Symbiosis International Students’ Council were the other distinguished dignitaries present for the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jitendra Dudi said, “Today we are fighting floods in Pune. Every day, governments work to solve real-life challenges, whether in healthcare, education or infrastructure. Tomorrow, many of you will shoulder similar responsibilities in your own countries.” He urged students to collaborate with governments and use their education to create meaningful social impact.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar said, “Symbiosis was born in 1971 with a simple vision—to bring people from different countries together under one roof. Today, with students from 85 nations, that vision has become a living reality.” Referring to the institution’s enduring motto of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, he said the friendships forged at Symbiosis transcend geographical boundaries and prepare students to become global citizens committed to peace, understanding and human values.
