Pune: Massive Boundary Wall Collapses at Bharati Hospital in Katraj; Around 40–50 Two-Wheelers Buried Under Debris

Katraj, 1st August 2026: A major mishap was narrowly averted on Saturday after a massive internal boundary wall, approximately 20 feet high and 100 feet long, collapsed inside the premises of Bharati Hospital in Dhankawadi, Pune. Around 40 to 50 parked two-wheelers were buried under the debris.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported, as no one was near the wall when it collapsed.

Following the incident, teams from the Pune Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and launched a debris removal and vehicle recovery operation with the assistance of Bharati Hospital staff. Firefighters are working to clear the rubble and retrieve the trapped two-wheelers.

According to Vasant Bhilare of the Pune Fire Brigade, continuous heavy rainfall and the presence of large trees adjacent to the wall are believed to have contributed to the collapse.

“Large trees were located next to the wall. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the wall weakened and eventually collapsed. Our team, along with hospital staff, is carrying out the debris removal operation and recovering the trapped vehicles,” Bhilare said.

Several motorcycles and scooters parked along the wall were damaged after being crushed beneath the fallen structure. Authorities are expected to inspect the site to determine the exact cause of the collapse and assess the structural safety of the remaining wall.
