Pune, 3rd August 2026: The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Atul Namdev Ghatkambale, a peon at Sassoon General Hospital mortuary, in the alleged blood sample tampering case linked to the high-profile Kalyani Nagar Porsche crash, citing the principle of parity.

Justice Ashwin Bhobe granted relief to Ghatkambale after observing that the other accused in the case had already been granted bail. The bail application was filed through advocate Niranjan Mundargi, assisted by advocates Manjit Lotankar, Keral Mehta, Abdulqayyum Nayyum Sayyed, and Abhijit Phulsundar.

The case relates to allegations that the blood samples of the juvenile accused in the fatal Porsche crash were tampered with in an attempt to shield him from criminal liability. A total of 10 persons, including the juvenile’s father, Vishal Agarwal, and the former Head of the Forensic Medicine Department at Sassoon General Hospital, Dr Ajay Taware, have been named as accused. Of them, nine had already secured bail from the Supreme Court.

The defence argued that Ghatkambale’s alleged role was limited to handing over money received from the first accused to the seventh accused. It submitted that there was no other evidence linking him to the alleged conspiracy and that, since all the other accused had already been granted bail, he was also entitled to relief on the grounds of parity.

After hearing submissions from both the defence and Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray, the High Court allowed the bail application. The court directed Ghatkambale to remain present before the trial court on every date of hearing and comply with all the conditions imposed while granting bail.

The case, registered by the Yerawada Police in 2024, is currently pending before a special court in Pune. It arises from the alleged tampering of blood samples following the Kalyani Nagar Porsche crash, which triggered nationwide outrage after two people were killed in the accident.
