Pune, 1st August 2026: The release of Jana Nayagan has become much more than a movie premiere it marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. The H. Vinoth directorial, starring Vijay, has hit theatres as the actor’s final film before dedicating himself fully to public service as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.Theatres witnessed packed houses, celebrations, emotional fans and standing ovations as audiences gathered to watch their favourite star on the silver screen one last time.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj alongside Vijay. The film has generated immense buzz not only because of its star-studded cast but also because it serves as Vijay’s farewell to a cinematic career spanning nearly four decades before his transition into full-time politics.
Outside the theatre, an emotional fan shared his feelings after the screening”The movie was really good and we are huge fans of Vijay Thalapathy. Watching him on the big screen, knowing that this was his last film before his political journey begins, made us emotional. Especially the end credits it felt like we were saying goodbye to someone we have grown up watching.”
While emotions dominated the atmosphere, the film also received varied reactions from moviegoers.
Another viewer appreciated the performances but felt the film could have been stronger overall “The first half of the movie was great, but I think the second half lagged somewhere for me. I also found the VFX to be a problem in many parts of the movie. Still, Vijay’s screen presence was outstanding and that’s what kept the film engaging.”
