Camp, 5th August 2026: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has cleared accumulated garbage at Chhatrapati Shivaji Market following a complaint by local residents, earning appreciation from community representatives for its prompt response.

Naresh Pushpavati Indrasen Jadhav, President of the Pune Cantonment Assembly Constituency of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), said photographs highlighting the garbage issue were submitted to the Cantonment Board. Acting on the complaint, the Board initiated a cleanliness drive within two days.

Jadhav expressed gratitude to the Cantonment Board, especially sanitation supervisor Rakesh Chavan and his team, for carrying out the clean-up operation.

«”I sincerely thank the Pune Cantonment Board for responding promptly to our complaint and clearing the garbage at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Market within two days. I also appreciate sanitation supervisor Rakesh Chavan and his team for their dedicated efforts in cleaning the area,” Jadhav said.»

He appealed to citizens to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness by segregating wet and dry waste before handing it over to sanitation workers. He urged residents not to dump garbage on roads or in public places, noting that such acts not only create unhygienic conditions but also place an unnecessary burden on sanitation staff.

«”Sanitation workers perform extremely difficult jobs. We should respect their efforts by disposing of waste responsibly. Those found dumping garbage in public places will be photographed, and we will urge the concerned authorities to initiate legal action against them,” he added.»

Jadhav also called upon local residents to actively cooperate with civic authorities in keeping public spaces clean and maintaining hygiene across the Pune Cantonment area.
