Pune, 6th November 2026: The newly launched Man-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro corridor (Pink Line) recorded 50,000 passenger journeys on its first day of operations on Wednesday (November 4), indicating a strong response despite most offices and commercial establishments in the city remaining closed for the Diwali holidays. More than 20,000 passengers used both the Pune Metro and Maha Metro services through interchange facilities.

The District Court Metro station emerged as the busiest on the new corridor, handling around 25,000 passengers during the day. The station serves as a key interchange connecting the Pink Line with Pune railway station and several parts of the city.

According to the passenger data, 11,460 commuters travelled on the Pune Metro, while 8,969 passengers transferred from Pune Metro to Maha Metro. Another 8,969 passengers travelled from Maha Metro to Pune Metro. Maha Metro recorded a total ridership of 2.73 lakh on the day.

Considering the expected rise in ridership after the Diwali holidays, the frequency of services on the Pink Line will be increased. Metro trains will be available every five minutes during peak hours and every eight minutes during non-peak hours.

The 23-km Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar journey is expected to take around 40 minutes, offering relief to IT professionals and other office-goers commuting between the two areas.

Passengers also welcomed the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) facility, which allows commuters to travel across all Pune Metro corridors using a single card.
