RAC Passengers to Receive Full Bedroll Kits in AC Coaches; Railway Board Issues Fresh Orders
New Delhi, 5th August 2026: Passengers travelling on Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) tickets in AC classes will now receive complete bedroll kits, including linen and blankets, just like confirmed passengers in the same coach, following fresh instructions issued by the Railway Board.
The new provision applies to RAC passengers travelling in all AC classes where bedroll facilities are available, except AC Chair Car. Central Railway has directed its officials to implement the Railway Board’s instructions with immediate effect.
Under the revised arrangement, eligible RAC passengers will be provided the same complete bedroll kit as confirmed passengers travelling in the coach.
Central Railway has instructed onboard staff, including Ticket Checking Examiners (TTEs) and housekeeping personnel, to ensure that bedroll kits are made available to eligible RAC passengers during their journey.
The Railway Board’s directive covers all AC classes where bedroll services are provided, with AC Chair Car remaining excluded from the provision.
Passengers who do not receive the prescribed bedroll kit during their journey can approach the onboard TTE for assistance. They may also register complaints through the RailMadad helpline by dialling 139.
The Railway Board has ordered the immediate implementation of these instructions across the concerned railway services.
