5-Year-Old Reunited With Mother After Going Missing at Pune Railway Station; Child Traced Within 10 Minutes

Pune, 6th August 2026: A five-year-old boy who was accidentally left behind at Pune Railway Station after deboarding the Dadar–Tirunelveli Chalukya Express was traced within 10 minutes, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Central Railway’s ticket checking staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The incident occurred on the night of August 5, 2026, aboard Train No. 11021 Dadar–Tirunelveli Chalukya Express. The child’s mother, Revathi, was travelling in Coach S-6 when she realised, after the train departed Pune, that her son was missing. It was later found that the child had inadvertently got off at Pune Railway Station along with another passenger.

After the mother alerted railway staff, Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) Shambhu Kumar Yadav immediately informed Train Conductor Arvind Mahato and alerted the Chief Crew Controller at Pune. He also contacted the RPF at Pune Railway Station and shared a photograph of the missing child to assist in the search.

RPF personnel at Pune Railway Station located the child within 10 minutes and ensured his safety. A photograph of the child was then shared with the TTE, who confirmed the boy’s identity with his mother.

The mother deboarded the train at its next scheduled halt, Satara, and returned to Pune, where she was reunited with her son.

In a statement, Central Railway urged passengers travelling with children to remain vigilant while boarding and deboarding trains. It also advised that in case of any emergency, passengers should immediately contact the on-duty Travelling Ticket Examiner or Train Conductor, or reach out to Rail Madad by dialling 139.
