Pune: Salon Worker Arrested for Using Deceased IAF Jawan’s ID to Get Air Force Uniform Stitched From Tailor

Pune, 8th August 2026: A 26-year-old salon worker has been arrested for allegedly using a fake identity card in the name of a deceased Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel to get an Air Force uniform stitched at a tailor’s shop in Lohgaon.

The accused has been identified as Shubham Vilas Ambure (26), a resident of Shirur taluka. Police have seized the fake identity card from him. An IAF personnel, Brijeshkumar Mishra (48), lodged a complaint with the Lohgaon police in connection with the incident, which came to light on July 6 at a tailoring shop near Gurudwara Colony in Lohgaon.

According to police, Ambure, originally from Beed district, had been working at a salon in Shikrapur for the past three months. He allegedly prepared a fake identity card in the name of Rajat Kumar Mishra, an IAF personnel who had died.

Ambure then approached Balaji Tailors in Lohgaon, claimed to be Rajat Kumar Mishra and produced the fake identity card to get an Air Force uniform stitched.

Meanwhile, an Air Force personnel visited the tailor’s shop, where the tailor showed him the identity card submitted by Ambure. The serviceman became suspicious after seeing the card. A subsequent inquiry revealed that Rajat Kumar Mishra had died in an accident in 2022.

Following this, a complaint was lodged with the Lohgaon police. Police took Ambure into custody and arrested him.

A case has been registered against Ambure, and police are investigating why he allegedly attempted to obtain and wear an Air Force uniform and how he procured or created the fake identity card.

Assistant police inspector Santosh Shinde is conducting the investigation under the guidance of senior police inspector Manisha Patil.
