Uttarakhand Youth Ravi Tamta Builds Electric Flying Car, HAPIDA SKYNEX Takes Flight

Uttarakhand, 8th August 2026: A young innovator from Uttarakhand has attracted attention after successfully building and test-flying an electric flying vehicle, offering a glimpse into how home-grown innovation could shape the future of transportation.

Ravi Tamta, an innovator from Kaflikhan village in Almora district, has developed a single-seater flying vehicle called the HAPIDA SKYNEX Prototype under his startup, Hapida Sky. The vehicle is based on modified and enhanced drone technology and was recently demonstrated during a test flight in Almora.

Videos of the flying vehicle have since gained attention on social media, putting Tamta’s work in the spotlight.

The innovation is particularly significant for Uttarakhand, where mountainous terrain can make road travel time-consuming. According to reports, a journey of around 40 kilometres that can take nearly 90 minutes by road could potentially be covered in about 10 minutes through the air using the concept.

Tamta’s project has also drawn attention because of the way it was developed. Despite limited resources and infrastructure, he designed and assembled the prototype himself, showcasing his technical skills and interest in developing unconventional transportation solutions.

The electric flying vehicle is designed around the idea of cleaner mobility while also addressing challenges such as traffic congestion and difficult terrain. Its development reflects growing interest in electric and aerial mobility technologies in India.

The HAPIDA SKYNEX is still a prototype, and its successful demonstration marks an early stage in the development of the technology. However, the test flight has generated interest in Tamta’s work and the possibilities of developing locally designed aerial mobility solutions.

Tamta’s flying vehicle is also not his first unusual technological creation. His journey as an innovator has included experimenting with different ideas and developing solutions with limited resources.

As interest in electric vehicles, drones and urban air mobility continues to grow, the HAPIDA SKYNEX prototype has brought attention to an innovator from a small village in Uttarakhand who is attempting to take transportation beyond conventional roads.
