Pune: Podar School Principal, Management Booked After Security Guard Dies in Gate Collapse
Pimpri Chinchwad, 9th August 2026: Wakad Police have registered a case against the principal and management of Podar International School in Tathawade, along with those responsible for the maintenance and safety of the school gate, following the death of a security guard in a gate-collapse incident.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Nagnath Kamble, who was on his routine morning duty when the incident occurred at around 8.10 am on July 31.
According to police, Kamble was operating the school’s heavy sliding entrance gate when the structure allegedly came off its track and fell on him. He sustained serious injuries and died in the incident.
The police investigation has so far indicated possible negligence in connection with the installation, upkeep, reinforcement and regular safety checks of the gate. Investigators are examining whether the structure had shown signs of weakness or posed a safety risk before the accident.
Police are also checking whether the gate was being operated despite any concerns about its condition and whether adequate safety precautions had been taken to prevent such an incident.
Based on the preliminary findings, Wakad Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with causing death by negligence.
Investigators are now working to establish the exact chain of responsibility for the gate, including who was tasked with its maintenance, inspection and safety compliance.
