From Instagram Comments to Koyta Attack: How a Pune Reel Creators’ Dispute Turned Violent
Shivajinagar, 17th August 2026: A dispute allegedly linked to social media activity between two reel creators escalated into a violent attack at a café in Deccan in the early hours of August 15, leaving a 19-year-old influencer injured in the neck. Police have registered a case on charges including attempt to murder.
Deccan Police have arrested seven people, including two women, and detained a minor in connection with the incident at Flying Gypsy Café on Shirole Road.
The injured youth has been identified as Atharva Pramod Jagtap (19), a resident of Ambegaon. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, where police recorded his statement as part of the investigation.
The arrested accused have been identified as Madhavi Rajesh Kumbhar (23), Snehal Sanjay Sonke (21), Rahul Sitaram Waghmare (20), Shivanand alias Shivraj Talwar (21), Aditya Sunil Bhalerao (22), Priyanshu alias Piyush Pradeep Bhosale (22), and Prem Manoj Salve (22).
Dispute allegedly began after incident at Kaas Plateau
According to police, the alleged rivalry dates back to an earlier confrontation at Kaas Plateau. A dispute reportedly broke out after a car was allegedly obstructed while a stunt was being performed.
Police said the disagreement subsequently continued on social media. Both Jagtap and Kumbhar are active on social media platforms, and investigators suspect that interactions involving Instagram comments and likes further aggravated the dispute.
