Pune University Vice-Chancellor Makes Surprise Visit to Refectory, Checks Food Quality and Hygiene
Pune, 30th September 2026: The Vice-Chancellor of the university made a surprise visit to the Refectory on Wednesday to inspect the quality of food served to students and assess cleanliness and hygiene at the dining facility.
During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi, not only inspected the facilities but also had a meal at the Refectory to personally assess the quality of the food being served to students.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by Senate member Prasenjit Fadnavis, Registrar Prof. Prafulla Pawar, Dean Prof. Prabhakar Desai and other university officials.
Kitchen, raw material storage inspected
During the surprise inspection, the Vice-Chancellor closely examined the kitchen, cooking equipment, storage arrangements for raw materials and the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the facility.
The Vice-Chancellor also checked whether food grains and other ingredients were being stored properly and in a safe environment.
Students asked for feedback
The Vice-Chancellor interacted directly with students present at the Refectory and sought their feedback on the quality of food served daily, the menu and other facilities.
Officials concerned with the management of the Refectory were directed to take necessary measures to ensure the health and well-being of students and maintain the quality of food served to them.
