Pune Accident: Two Students Injured After School Bus Hits Activa at Ghorpadi’s National War Memorial Chowk

Camp, 30th September 2026: Two students, including a 16-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries after a mini school bus allegedly travelling at high speed collided with an Activa scooter at the National War Memorial Chowk on Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident took place around 7:30 am.

Police identified the school bus driver as Dattatray Baswaraj Sagar, 26, a resident of Madhavnagar in Hadapsar.

According to police, Sagar was allegedly driving the mini school bus at high speed and in a negligent manner while disregarding traffic rules when it collided with the Activa.

The Activa was being ridden by an 18-year-old student, while her 16-year-old brother, also a student, was travelling as the pillion rider. Both sustained serious injuries in the collision, while the Activa was also damaged.

Following the accident, a complaint was lodged with Wanowrie Police. Police registered a case against the school bus driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act, including provisions related to rash and negligent driving and traffic violations.

Police Inspector (Crime) Kailas Daberrao and Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Bagade of Wanowrie Police Station visited the accident spot. The investigation has been assigned to PSI Sanjay Bagade.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
